My English

Since I came here 2 years ago I have been studying English. Since then every class I have gone I have learned something new or at least I have practice what I already know. However, every time that I talked with Americans I felt kind of confused or nerveous I really don't know what was that. I always knew that my skills to read or write were better than my skills to speak because I didn't talk too much with Americans. But the last months have been different I feel very proud of my English. I always have to talk too much with the 2 people I work for. I have to send to them many e-mails or read many emails they send me. In addition, I have to explain them many things about my work. In fact, many things I have to explain to them are very technical and I can do it. Obiously I have mistakes sometimes, but I always get that they undestand me. More over, I am learning many new things such as desig websites so that has helped me to expand my vocabulary. It is obious that while better our English is better our lifes are.

  1. I had the same problem at the forst months that I was here. I understood everything what people said to me but I was really afraid to speak to them. I was scared that they will not understand me and they will ask me to repeat and I would be to embarrassed to do it. After a while this feeling was gone. I know that people don't really care about small mistakes. They get to use to it because in those days in this country is many immigrants that they can barely speak English language.

  2. I envy you that you have great oppotunity to improve your English at work. I also felt afraid to speak to Americans when I came to the US. I have been here for almost fourteen years. Honestly, I sometimes still not comfortable to speak Americans depending on the person and situation. Especially, it is still hard to speak on the phone. Some people doesn't speak clearly and speak too fast. Even I asked them to speak slowly, some people don't really slow down. I hope my English will improve by the time I finish ESL class at NCC.
